Thanks guys. The San Fran is ludicrously cheap. Could be the way...

Have you made a decision yet? Please forgive me adding my two pence worth.

I bought a San Fran. to replace another 3G phone that broke within a few weeks of purchase and so far have been very impressed. As finaly noted the unlock code is free and very easy to use, taking about 30 seconds to fully unlock the phone. Out of the box the OS is skinned with a hideous smokey orange and grey colour scheme but an application is pre-installed which allow you to switch this over to the default Android skin and more stylish alternatives are available in the Android Market. The screen is clear when compared to similar phones such as the HTC Wildfire and video playback looks great. Call clarity is reasonable for the 3 network in my area.

There has been some occasional juddering when switching between different home screens and the touchscreen sometimes needs more pressure than might be expected befor finger contact is registered. The camera is nothing to write home about, the phone can sometimes struggle to get a 3G signal in areas where my old 3G phone had no problems and music playback using 3 (aka "Cubed") can be a bit clicky at times.

The phone ships with Android 2.1 but, as noted, beta version 2.2 ROMs are available in the wild. As with all beta programs (and especially unofficial ones) some problems have been reported by those brave enough to test them so it may be worth waiting until more stable versions emerge.

Overall this is a great little phone for the price and you certiainly get more than you pay for.

Brilliant. Thanks for that.

The purchase was for a mate and she hasn't decided yet, but I'll definitely pass this on. Looks like Google are on the march for 2011.

I don't want to star a new thread so I am resurrecting this one.

I believe this is a very good deal if you are on tight budget: HTC Wildfire S for £144.00 (includes £15 credit)

My friend bought one and confirmed that it is sim unlock and comes with Gingerbread 2.3

I've just bought Nexus S for £199 on CPW.
If you want to get it you need to hurry up. They started doing this deal on 25th but it sold out on the same day. I kept checking the stock levels over last two day and this evening it was back in stock.

This is a cracking deal as this is a vanilla phone from google so ICS will come...

I wouldn't buy water from CPW if I was expiring of thirst. The fact they see fit to, as an 'opt out', add a £129 insurance premium onto a £199 phone deal suggests the kind of after sales service you will have to expect should anything go wrong.

HTC Evo 3D Android Mobile Phone

1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 chip, a 4.3-inch qHD 3D display, dual 5-megapixel 3D cameras, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense 3.
It's due an update to Ice Cream Sandwich later this year, too.
