Sherlock was very enjoyable, again.
The next episode is The Hounds of the Baskerville. Interesting, however slight, deviation from the norm.

Science on TVInteresting and nostalgic look at science fact/fiction/entertainment on British TV since broadcasts began. Presentation is similar to those Top 100 lists that plague Channel 5, but the content, for me at least, is better. Not a bad way to spend 90 minutes.

I really, really enjoyed A Scandal in Belgravia - as I did the first three-parter series last year (or was it the year before now?). The whole schtick in the swimming pool at the start with Moriarty almost apeing Graham Norton had me chuckling in spite of the dramatic situation. Moffat and Gatiss know the original Conan-Doyle stories well, and have updated them sympathetically to the 21st century adding their own brands of humour and tension while they're at it. I'm a bit of a sucker for anything with Martin Freeman in it anyway, but the interplay between his character as Watson and Cumberbatch's Holmes is a delight. Sherlock, Doctor Who and any number of the nature and science programmes on the Beeb are worth the telly tax on their own, in my opinion. You can leave the soaps and reality celebrity trash. Did anyone else catch Horizon last night?
It was Jim Al-Khalili talking about the Higgs boson and the search for it.
It was very interesting and went a lot deeper into the theory behind the particle than I have ever heard before.
Learnt a hell of a lot more.
Specifically about super symmetry which is the theory that every particle and anti-particle has an alternative called a super-particle or auper-anti-particle (or something).
Basiclaly this theory is born out of the supposed existence of the Higgs. It also went on to explain how energy and matter are not one and the same but two side of the same particle (or something, I was chatting on FB at the time).
Very interesting though and worth catching on iPlayer.

Thanks, will have a look at that on iPlayer.
What I can't get my head around is how scientists can have theories about something when they don't even know if it exists!
But it does sound interesting, all the same.
