Well, a girl at work managed to find the only thing to say about last night that could make me worry about it and I haven't been able to think of anything else all day. She said something along the lines of, "Well, you've probably ruined your chances by not kissing her". Is it really that important on the first (unofficial) date? (Unofficial in that it was supposed to be just a few drinks but I think turned into something else). Looking back now I probably should have but with it being so long since going on a first date (with someone I was attracted to) I didn't want to do anything to scare her off etc... We have arranged to go out again but, like I said, it is all I have been able to think about all day.

Not at all! A friend didn't try to kiss his current girlfriend until their 3rd actual date, it'll happen when it happens, don't let it worry you

Put it this way - if you'd 'ruined your chances' do you think she'd be bothering going out with you again? Jon

Cheers Edd!! I think I actually recall that now.... As for you, Oli, listen to what others here have said and go with your gut feeling. If you want to smooch, then smooch! If you're that worried about whether you're in the friend zone (and lets face it, we usually are on the first few dates) you could always try being upfront and asking her if she's interested, or just let her know you like her. I'm no relationship expert, but it's not rocket salad, just be yourself and honest and see how things go Edit: I love these threads!

This. I had a similar experience once, years ago, and I had ruined it, because we never went out again. I still regret it, but I learned. For some girls, maybe it would've been an issue, but clearly not in your case. If she wants to see you again, you're good

That is complete and utter bobbins; and probably says more about that girl's expectations of a first date than anyone else's. You sure that she's not sweet on you, herself? As others have already said, be yourself. There's little point acting it up, unless you're only after a quickie.
