Except that's not what the article says - it says it's clearer than the Galaxy Nexus, and has a higher pixel density than the iPhone (I assume they mean the iPhone 4's retina display). It's patently a very nice screen, but I'm not even sure how you define 'clearer' anyway.

To be fair, it is a good thing. I've been more than a little irked for some time by blithering idiots who can't grasp that making the screen bigger while keeping the resolution the same as before was in fact not the great leap forward they were claiming it to be. This screen, which by the sound of it is both bigger and has a higher resolution (and therefore a greater or at least as good pixel density), is in fact a decent leap forward. Not so much in terms of movie watching - it doesn't really matter, any half decent smart phone will scale video very nicely and anyone who watches a movie on their phone needs their head examining anyway - but in terms of the amount of useful information it can show you at any given time, which is what in the end smartphones are supposed to be all about.

Why awful industrial design? The ports are hidden from view and don't attract as much dust and dirt, then they fold down, if and when you need them (i.e. you are working on a desktop)...

Given the thinness that they are driving for at the moment is thinner than 99% of the ports they need to put on the side, they need something like this, and/or they need to use non-standard "mini" ports and you carry around a bunch of bulky adapters in the pack. :?

As to earlier posts, if everyone is planning to put ICS in their televisions, where does that leave Google TV?

Jon

Google TV is an Android derivative... Maybe ICS doesn't just combine telephone and tablet, but also TV!

Samsung’s “Future Proof” TV.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16480712

To me, this sounds idiotic:
Quote:
The device has a slot which allows new kit to be added to boost processing performance and add new features.

The innovation may help reassure shoppers concerned about their screen becoming outdated.

Eh? Is this the 1980s? Hardware? Slots? Every year?

On the PS3 here... 'Beyond that, the "Smart Evolution" feature will let users swap out that dual core processor for something heftier later on if they want to upgrade.'

Who's gonna bother?

...aside from the fact you'd have to be mad a box of badgers to use windows on a 10" display. Even less if you need to type anything.

OLED rival part of Sony's TV future

http://www.techradar.com/news/televisio ... r--1053273

Isn't an OLED benefit the low power draw? Wonder how that compares? And won't OLED be miles ahead by take-up time anyway?

The large OLED TV looks good. A 40" one would be perfect.
