Bah, the number of machines running Windows in my house is increasing rather than decreasing! Stupid work-related apps. and other Windows-only software is forcing me to use the dreaded thing, though luckily I still have a Kaspersky subscription... At this rate I I might have to consider a change of username.

Not generally, and where they do they're often highly unstable.

We don't have any Windows computers in the house this year, it's been bliss! 2 x Ubuntu (1 laptop and 1 desktop) 2 x OS X (MacBooks) 2 x OpenSolaris (1 server and 1 laptop)
Can you virtualise? Does Linux have anything like Parallels which integrates Windows apps to the rest of the desktop?

there was a feature in CPC about an app that sounds like that. i believe it was called seamlessRDP, or something similar. if you are desperate to avoid windoze it might be worth googling

Parallels is based on Wine, hence my original post. http://wiki.winehq.org/Parallels

After a spell of having the attention span of a goldfish, I've found a new love for gaming, so with regret I am back in Windows most of the time. I've also got Badaboom to play with and that is also Windows only.
