Nicola bought a book but didn't know I'd already read it. She contacted the Amazon seller who replied "we don't accept returns". We'll see about that!

Surprisingly he replied once I'd made him aware of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations but wants me to leave 5-star feedback before he agrees to a return. This guy is having a laugh!

Doesn't sound that unreasonable if you leave a comment like "Reasonable guy agreed to accept a returned book believing it was bought by mistake and I hadn't opened it".

Was it an expensive hardback? Often the postage for a paperback is more than it's worth...

Doesn't sound unreasonable? The guy point blank refused a refund and will now only authorise one if I give him perfect feedback. You think this guy deserves the praise?

Positive feedback with a sarcastic comment isn't exactly praise. Just be glad it's not America where they'll sue you for deformation of character if you leave negative feedback!

Is the book sealed? If not it could be difficult to prove didn't use it. Most companies don't accept returns for media that is opened, and a lot of books kinda come that way.

No it wasn't sealed but in terms of printed media only magazines and newspapers are exempt from the DSR(2000) IIRC

When did the TV companies switch to preferring the web for delivery?

I just noticed, nearly all the soaps and reality shows on TV have a short ad at the end saying "want to know what happens next? Watch tomorrow's episode now on our web site!"

Don't watch Soaps and Reality TV shows then. Once they get their hooks in you, you're a slave from 7pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday. ;)

I don't watch them, the other half does.

I just happened to watch with her the other day, and I was surprised that the TV station wasn't just do re-runs on their website, they were actually showing full length episodes on the web, of what was going to be "premiered" the next day on the TV channel.

Needs Flash, sadly.

No prompt for flash? It just displayed the page, it did complain that Quicktime wasn't installed on one page.

I only commented on it because I have a Flash blocker where I need to click to enable any Flash content.

I am pleased that a large amount of stuff that used to need Flash now seems to be supported by HTML5 natively. I'll give Flash another year, maybe two, before it goes the way of the Dodo. Then Adobe will wonder why they bought it in the first place, killing off a competitor in the process.

You do realise that Flash was invented by the illuminati, don't you? Do you realy think that all of those "free" flash games that you play online are really innocent harmless bits of fun?

With a little bit of time and some fiddling with the internal PC speaker: Tetris - beeped!

It's been a rather quiet afternoon

Hopefully they'll turn the flash application into an HTML 5 creator.

In other news, why is JavaScript so hard to understand? I found php very simple to get the hang of in comparison.
