This is old news, but the amazing thing is we're being told it's still true. Seriously, 50%, is that not a completely unbelievable statistic?

Perhaps it's because the FBI put in the surrogate server. People tend not to fix things that still work even if they're rotten at the core. However, that's probably going to change next week. I'm bracing myself for a lot of phone calls from customers saying their internet isn't working...

That's a massive headline fail suggesting something completely false, but such is the way of sensationalist journalism...

I hope they simply put up a walled garden saying what's happened. It would potentially save me a lot of aggravation trying to explain things people don't want to hear.

So, the FBI aren't going to remove infected machines from the Internet... They are just turning off the DNS server they were running, because the court order runs out...

And ZDNet ran an article last week, saying that the FBI were looking to extend the deadline.

My question: Why not just have the DNS server redirect all requests to an FBI holding page, telling visitors, that their machine is infected with a Trojan and they should get it removed pronto?

It's so obvious I don't understand why they didn't do it to start with.
