CamScanner - Uses camera photos with advanced cropping and image processing to create multi-page pdfs of documents / pictures etc. Wifi Analyser - find out which wifi channels are choc a block in your house and where your wireless signal strength is weak Astro File Manager - as mentioned above ElectroDroid - Extensive electronics reference - resistors, circuit calculations, pinouts MathScript - nearly-python on your phone with a Matlab-esque sort of focus Games: Star Trader RPG - good game but requires a lot of time to play Robo Defense - excellent way to kill 10 minutes at a time
That's about it really. I have a phone for phoning people and it comes with a built-in camera for general photos / scanner, and geeky stuff. I don't bother with most google services or posting online etc. and I check my email at my computer when I'm at work.

Just to say thanks again for all the help, as many of the above have become permanent fixtures. Especially love TuneIn Radio, try it if you haven't already!

Swiftkey X keyboard and World of Goo are among "Plays of the day" @ 49p each Swiftkey has raving reviews so I guess no harm in trying it for 49p https://play.google.com/store/apps/coll ... t=0&num=24

Lovely, bought Swiftkey to be tested tomorrow alongside Soundhound and TuneIn Radio, cheers! Though I hope this isn't the start of a new addiction This may actually be the first time I've ever bought software that wasn't a game

SwiftKey is excellent. Well, it is for guessing which words you're typing, I don't like it so much when it tries to anticipate what you're going to say and starts bunging whole words into the sentence on your behalf.

I'm hearing good things about a game called Sprinkle. But I don't have space for it on my phone.

Have you seen the TED talk on Copyright Mathematics? "The Film industry claims that piracy has cost the industry 375,000 jobs. Interestingly the Film industry employed 210,000 people in 2010. That means that there are actually a negative number of people working in the film industry." I know many stars are pretty vacuous, but are they really that bad?

If App writers did it properly, you could download the app, use it at reduced functionality and use an in-app purchase to fully activate the software. I’m surprised more haven’t though of doing it that way.

Give the Dolphin browser a go, it's certainly faster and more stable than Chrome IME so far... Google also has a thing called Currents, basically a newsfeed from all the newspaper sites, seems good so far.

Now I've got ICS on my phone, I could download Chrome and try it. Certainly better than the built in browser and I find it better than Dolphin, but I still prefer Firefox for Android.
