The HTC One X? Forget it. This is the phone of 2012:

Sony's "Reality Display"
Proper HD resolution

Probably £250 in 6 months time.

Yeah.. how many phones have Sony actually released upgrades for, as oppose to saying they will and in the end not bothering?

Shipping an Android phone in 2012 with v2 on it is bordering on criminal. It's pissed me off no end, because I actually really, really like the look of it.

I've been reading up on it and apparently it's not Sony's fault - it's Google's as they've given Samsung special early access to ICS, playing favourites with your "partners" doesn't seem like a good way forward IMO.

Still, I can't imagine ICS for the Xperia S is very far off - ICS is also coming to both the Xperia Arc and the Xperia Arc S (amongst other models*)in the very near future (March/April).

The Xperia S is due to market at least a fortnight sooner than the HTC One X, which could explain the difference between Gingerbread & ICS at launch.

Thing is... whose 'fault' it is is kind of irrelevant to me as a customer. I'm stuck with what they're offering, not what they'd like to be offering. There's not a cat in hell's chance of me paying several hundred quid for a piece of technology with an outdated system running on it and only the promise - and a promise which in the past in general has turned out to be pretty worthless at that - of an upgrade at some point in the future. Just not happening.
