I never got into the other ST incarnations. DS9 was just boring. Enterprise had potential but just got fed up. Voyager - only recently watched the eps on think it was Viva and it was okay but still not as good as TNG.
Agree with skipping some of the eps. I found Wesley just wound me up.

Indeed. I found him the most annoying character in all the Star Trek series by far. In terms of series Original - I hated, (though some of the films were good.) TNG - liked DS9 - I didn't really get into though I liked a few of the later episodes with big space battles Voyager - Really really liked. Enterprise - didn't like.

I actually think DS9 had the best opening credits music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsOE73pxpysedit: ah no actually I was thinking of the Voyager music! (very similar actually) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peMNB9yq ... re=relatedAnd I think we can all agree, Enterprise had the worst.

haha I'd forgotten that best of both worlds is the episode where Geordi La Forge gets in before the lock.

He's the second worst for me, behind his whiny, miserable, likes-to-stick-her-nose-in, always-having-some-great-existential-crisis, judgemental mother. As for series: - Original - I loved (the screenplays and plot-lines were excellent)
- TNG - loved
- DS9 - I liked the Cardassians, the Defiant and a few of the later, big space-battle episodes but apart from those it was rather unremarkable.
- Voyager - Really really hated.
- Enterprise - Had great potential but the casting was utterly, utterly wretched (especially where Scott Bakula was concerned)

Superb thread, that. One annoyance though. Stating that the sphere has to rest on three points is a trivial result. If the sphere has to rest on three contact points to be stable, but the sphere remains rigid, each of those contact points is still infinitely small/zero. So the the total contact area is still infinitely small/zero and the contact pressure remains infinite/undefined. Furthermore, it's also nonsensical. As the surface is perfectly flat and a perfect sphere must by definition be perfectly smooth, every part of the surface must be identical to any other and ditto for the sphere. This means that there cannot be three points of contact because that would require either a non-uniform surface, a deformable (and therefore non-uniform) surface or a non-rigid sphere. All of which require the question not to be the question and therefore are nonsense answers.

In real life when someone asks you a question, before you can answer you first have to ask yourself "now what do they really mean?" However, in pure mathematics we have absolute truth...

My girlfriend's younger brother just rang. His mate has had his internet connection cut-off by the GEMA (German equivalent of the performing rights) and they want 100€, before they will let the ISP re-enable the account. He allegedly downloaded music without paying for it.

Does anyone know anything about recording songs? I'm thinking mostly of cost to rent a studio, mix etc. in the London area
My brother, who is a musical genius, is writing songs. He is also in terrible health and will likely not be able to play for long. I'm thinking of saving to get him a recording session. Any advice appreciated.
