Under which category should the BBC file this story? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17444719

Entertainment. It's about the story, not about form of technology the story is told on.

+1 I imagine some numpty justifying it by saying it's a 'computer' game. Computers belong in the tech section.

I suspect 90% of the BBC's customers would class computer games as technology.

That crossed my mind, but I’m feeling this is the story rather than the nuts and bolts game, and as such probably belongs more in Entertainment as well.

Entertainment
And there's also nothing wrong with the ending IMO. I just think it could have been longer and expanded on a bit more, especially with regards to what happens to some of the other characters. The sticking point for people seems to be that it was 'sad'. And? What did they expect, Shepherd to ride off into the sunset on the back of a reaper with Liara in tow and their half human-half tentacle headed babies?

As above, entertainment but majority of public would see it as tech.

To be fair, that would have been a hell of an ending...

I was thinking about the placement of the story rather than the story itself. It’s about a narrative, and the potential for retrofitting an alternative ending. It is also about the reaction of gamers to the ending, and the intentions of the story tellers. In short, this is about a critical response to a work of art. People do not respond to technology in the same fashion. So I was questioning the placing of the story. By placing it in Technology, the BBC is not acknowledging games as “entertainment” in the way that it does so for film and TV. Maybe it feels that games lack the depth to move an audience. However, this one has. This tells me that the game makers have crossed a line. They have done more than shunted polygons around; they have told a story, and people are reacting to that. I feel that this is a small watershed, and this should therefore be in Entertainment as well.

I voted Pie. It's someone having a hissy fit because he didn't like the ending.

Entertainment, definitely.
I think that a lot of opposition to the ending (which I've not got to yet I should add) is that so little of the decisions you make in the game actually contribute to the options available, which makes them all seem rather pointless. In an RPG that's really not the idea.
