Love it or hate it , discuss it here.

I've seen a couple of articles today.

Marriage ban for Olympics as Britain clamps down on visas.

Civil partnerships, marriages and student visas banned for Olympic participants for 6 months. So spend 10bn on the games and then refuse a few visas to save an insignificant amount of cash in comparison.

10 reasons some people will dread the Olympics

Heavens forbid, the BBC reporting on viewpoints that aren't for the games. At this exact moment I can't think of one Olympic event that I would go out of my way for to watch on TV, yet alone have gone through all the hassle and secrecy of buying a ticket and travelling to the event. By the sounds of it there will be 3 channels offering non-stop covergae of every event.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Couldn't care less anymore.

I didn't get any tickets and neither did eight out of nine of my friends who applied.

From Manchester, I could actually fly to Florida and stay for a week for less than it would cost me to go to London for a week during the Olympics, assuming I also bought some tickets to go see even the less popular events.

I like sport, but I'm not f'ing stupid.

I doubt I'll watch 1 second of the Olympics. Not interested at all.

Is that considering an increase in airfares over the Olypmic period? You can guarantee they'll be up for the South East but I've not looked at other airports.

Assuming you've got one, will you locking your TV in a cupboard, or possibly yourself? If you're staying in the country I assume it will be pretty much inescapable.

You're probably right. :(

Not bothered by the Olympics, just the cost of it all.

Work offered me the chance to be seconded to the Olympics. I politely declined.

I shall be doing all I can to avoid the Olympics, much like I avoid the city centre whilst the Six Nations is on.

I have zero chance of avoiding the Olympics. There's a pretty good chance I'll be pulled into the working party for the swimming part at least, but as well as that Red and I are going with my parents into London to see what we can see of the opening ceremony, we tried to get tickets, and have tried again on the re-sell, we'll try again on the last re-sell and if that fails we'll try for the £10 tickets to get into the grounds and watch it on the big tv's. Opening ceremony is the only bit I'm really interested in, though I'll be keen to see how the swimming goes.

Zippy, as you work for a sponsor, does that mean you get to use the special transport lanes? :P

We're not a sponsor!

It costs a staggering amount to be a sponsor and you don't get any special perks like access to tickets. Not only that but (particularly in the swimwear world) you still can't have your logo on your athletes!

I bet that didn't apply to the likes of Coca Cola and the other huge sponsors.

I don't suppose you will have dealings with Keri-Anne Payne, would you? ;)

Well I am not so negative

If you ignore the whole "Should we have bid for the Olympics and the costs of such a bid" issue as we did, we won and its happening

I do have some tickets so I will go and enjoy the spectacle
I am also working on the front line for work so I am looking forward to that

Yes public trasport will be overcrowded but on the plus side my boss has been told from "on high" to let us work from home where possible so he is having to do it :D
