I know this will jinx it, but I've just heard I have an interview for a proper job on Monday.

Spent a fair bit of today getting down and dirty in SQL, managed to improve a sites processing to load time by 85%, from 6.5s to about 500ms full logic load.

Puts their competitors site to shame without javascript and caching, faster by a full second with zero client or server side caching in place yet :D

The powers of properly written code (and compiled queries) is brilliant at times :D

Needed more storage space for all the digital stuff.
Sent to Staples and found a 2TB USB 2 Iomega drive for £79. Done.

Interesting. Need a big drive for the Mini which is becoming a media server.

Picked up a dead Dell 3007 30" IPS monitor on Sunday - traded for £30 and an old vga monitor.

After several hours, over Sunday, Monday and the early hours of this morning, stripping down and testing plus a few quid on components, it rejoined the land of the living at approximately 7.30 this morning.

I can't test it properly until I get back home (curse this work lark) but I'm reasonably confident it's functional. :D

Going to a 4 star hotel this weekend for 2 nights. Booked through late rooms for £65 when they're normally £160.

Result!

:D

Garage rang. Car's electrics are all working!
For quite a bit less than I feared too.
Tidy!

Remembering at the last minute that you've got a watched eBay item listing finishing in two minutes, dashing to the computer and making the winning bid by 18 seconds.
Also - winning brand new car door window motors for almost half price.
