So my wonderful employers who have afforded me the opportunity to learn to ski for free, but consequently made my life rather unpleasant at times, have struck again.

There are no seats on a Thomson plane for my return on Sunday and consequently I will be flying Ryanair to Stansted. Woohoo. I will be carrying two bags (plus ski boots) with an approximate weight of 40kgs

I land at 1125 and as I see it, these are the options:
1) Book a train in advance at a cost of £50.
- This will restrict me to a particular time and if I'm delayed, I could miss it. Whereas if I'm on time and my bags are quick to come through, I will be sat around for ages. Gets in around 2030ish.
2) Get that same train but buy the ticket at STN when I'm ready to leave.
- This approximately doubles the cost, but is potentially less hassle.
3) I suppose I could get a coach, but the prospect of 7-9hrs to Cornwall on one of those isn't exactly nice.
4) Hire a one way car, chug my bags in the back and do one.
- This gets me home the quickest, but the only quote I can currently get for a oneway is £100 for the car. I estimate fuel at between another £50 -£70.

Have I missed anything? Any comments or other ideas? What would you do? If I had someone who could pick me up and I could stay in town with friends for a couple of days, I'd do that. But I don't AND it's Easter Sunday anyway....

Seeing as the car will cost £150, I'd go for the £100 buy on the day ticket.
There's always a serious risk with flights of missing a fixed time train, especially with budget airlines, even more so if it's one of the later flights in the day.

Actually I'm a total hypocrite typing that.
I've just booked a first class ticket (for some reason is was almost half the price of a standard class ticket) from Aberdeen to Kendal for my mates stag do.
The train leaves Aberdeen at 12:30, but my chopper is due to land at Dyce (Aberdeen airport) at about 10:30. That only leave 1 1/2 hours to do a 1/2 hour journey into town.
If I miss it, I'll have to pay for a whole new ticket and probably miss the first eveining of the do.
I could have got work to fly me to Manchester in the evening then catch a train up, but that would have meant a planned late arrival.

Using the two largest train stations in the area... so Stansted -> Paddington -> Newquay.

If I was being cheap I would:
by train - Book the Stansted -> Paddington (£26.50) part of the journey seperately from the Paddington -> Newquay Part (£53.00). Think this saves a few quid I think. (£79.50).

by Mix - Book a national coach (seat) from Stansted -> Victoria (£11.50), hop (crawl) onto the underground to paddington (or get a bus) for £4 and then get onto the Paddington -> Newquay Part (£53.00). (£68.50).
