The difference in the cost of a PC game versus console version - why is the PC version always significantly cheaper?

Surely there's more testing, server maintenance, patches required for PC development than the set in stone specs of consoles and their networks? :?

Or is it a licencing issue?

Dunno but I found the fight system crap in Arkham City on the PS3 last night. Went to find N.F. And it took me several goes to battle the enemies because the system decided what it thought best rather than what I wanted to do.

ION, I start work in just under 22 mins. I hate the dreaded wait before I leave. Last week, I went early and it felt just as bad.

Because PCs are not subsidised as loss-leaders. I imagine you have to pay Sony to release a game for their hardware, but not for PC.

That's why I mentioned licencing issues, but Christ, you're talking at least £10 difference on a pre-order before the game price drops even further in the month for both versions. And wouldn't the PC version just generally require more work, hence crappy ports between the two?

How unbelievably bored I am as everyone else at the in-laws is watching back to back Downton Abbey.

£10 might not be that far off, although it's possible there are other exa expenses involved. And as for consoles being easier, ask anyone whose ever had to code for the PS3. Plus you can code for PC on anything, a laptop will do. To code for consoles you need specially designed console dev kits which the console makers charge thousands of pounds for...

Are console game sales maintaining the PC sales then do we reckon? I mean if you believe the hype Steam is about the only thing keeping them alive...

I always did wonder what possessed Sony to go with the Cell, especially when they created something of a bottleneck with the memory as I understand it.

And just like that, they evaporate.
Ah well, good thing I hadn't booked the hire car!

Surely depends on the one you go to. I'd say the Sainsbury SuperSaver Store near St Albans has pretty much everything you could want.

On a separate note:

Oven man is coming! Oven man is coming! Oven man is coming! Oven man is coming! Oven man is coming!

Lemon Drizzle cake, salmon en croute, steak and mushroom pies, proper roast potatoes, banana cheesecake, roasted brisket - oh how I've missed you!

I wish I had more time. Ideally I'd like to complete my degree by christmas, not the end of May. It's going to be hard to decide when to stop.
