First off, whatever your feelings on the difficulty of investigating the ownership of the land, you'd do well to do so - it could well guard yourself against any potential comeuppance

spoke to owner of the site beside it and they said just go for it and its fine by them etc :(

I do think you're grossly over-estimating the worth of these items you've described so far -

 hence thread title "treasure"

Id say underestimating more than anything though, the clay ginger beer one same as mine is going for £15-25 on ebay, theres a weird glasgow one ive got which an american is selling for $69 bit more than £1 each ;) the clay ones also I Was looking at vids on youtube at a vintage bottle market and I spotted some bottles that I have with £18 - £20 price stickers on them

Well like I said, I'm no expert! ;)

I guess it's because I'm still often suprised by the amount of money people are prepared to spend on this kind of thing... much like art... and football players...

The owner of the site beside it is not the owner of it! But nonetheless, a good start, pursue your enquiries further, you may well end up getting an equally nonplussed response from the real owner... just make sure you get whatever confirmation in writing. ;)

I remember my dad and his mates coming back from "a dig site" with old Victorian bottles and the like. This was in the 1970s and I have no idea where they were going or why. It sounds like they were digging up old Victorian junk somewhere. I guess the finds were sold to junk shop owners.

Just find out who owns the land, get them to OK what you are doing in writing.

As we know nothing of the site you are digging up, it is possible that you have done irreparable damage to a potentially important archaeological site. It will be worth contacting for local history societies (they will be in the library) or local museums to discuss wheat you have found.

got some more info ;) apprently its an old victorian dump that noone cares about, people freely dig the surrounding area and dump their dead dogs in it as its an apparent old tradition, people tell me when they were young they used to dig the same area and that the area with all the stuff covers quite a large area  awesome.

One says he dug there and found a Victorian breast pump.

They always get quite excited on Time Team when they find a pile of old buried rubbish. It tells you a lot about what people did - a lot more than a pot of gold coins (which if you found you would have to declare by law).

Please stop cocking up our archaeology.
