NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They moved the tabs back down below the bookmarks toolbar....I likes it up on top......why isn't there an option to have them back up where they belong?

There were Terminal commands around when Safari 4 Beta came out - to move the tabs bar back to the old position. I'd imagine these are still relevant now that the final release is out. If you're feeling brave, open Terminal (in Utilities folder) and copy and paste the command on this page, which is... then restart Safari to see if it works. To put the tabs bar back to the old position, the terminal command should be... Like I say, no idea if this still works with the final release of Safari 4, just don't blame me if it doesn't work that's all! I'm sure with OnyX or Cocktail will be updated soon to change these settings, even though Apple have decided (wisely, in my opinion) to move the default position of the tabs back to below the bookmarks bar.

i had safari 3.2.3 with add ons working just right then updated to safari 4 which had cover flow and this crap called 'top sites'
safari has been completely removed from my system and am now using old faithful FF
why can't they just produce a browser that just browses and any add ons that can just be that add ons …

You can turn top sites off, and never have to use Cover Flow so just what is the problem?? I never use either of those features.

I don't like playing around in Terminal....and I never understood why it is "wise" to have tabs sitting right below the bookmarks bar...much better having the tabs out of the way at the top, it's far to easy to click on wrong one, plus it took up less screen space as it was part of the bar that has the "traffic lights" and page title on it....

Tabs simply didn’t work properly at the top. At the risk of repeating myself (what does that mean? what risk?), I’ll repeat myself: The worst thing about the latest version is that dumb page load progress indicator. Hopefully the hidden pref is still there to restore the Safari 3 progress bar.

I don’t quite get this. It goes a dark blue/grey colour, then sometimes a light grey before vanishing. I can only assume that dark blue = loading and light grey = rendering/compiling Javascript or some such internals working.

I don’t get it at all. It’s just bizarre and so unlike what I expect from Apple.

+1 for that sentiment. All my other buttons etc. hang around on the left of the address bar. What's the reload/stop button doing all the way over there? And yes, can't we have some sort of loading progress bar please? Other than that, I'm not unhappy with Safari 4. Does anyone know if the bloat issue has been fixed in this release?

Does Safari doe multi-line bookmarks like Camino yet? Until I find another browser that does that I'll not be jumping ship. Aye, I'd be happy with that. I never wanted any of the extra nonsense, just give me something fast and reliable. I'll try to remember to make an AppleScript script tonight that'll do it for you Fair comments, however, if you don't double-click for a new tab then you don't have a problem. Also, Apple's core market for OS X seems to be portables, the cheapest of which have fairly short screens where saving space could really count.

Where bookmarks wrap onto a new line rather than mysteriously disappear off the page... Like this: ClickyIt's a much nicer/easier way of displaying many common sites than having to use a menu, or even something like a 'top sites' screen IMO. Pretty? No. Functional? Hell yeah!
