I think you're right.

The front headlights and shaping of the GT86 bonnet appear to be the same as on the new Yaris.

Wouldn't surprise me. A lot of manufacturers seem to see the car profile as very much part of their 'corporate identity' these days.

I get a yaris as a courtesy car every time my celica is in for anything. Nice car, although obviously a somewhat different driving experience :)

Quite :D

Although, I have to look after my budget and even a second hand celica would send me over budget purely on fuel, tax and insurance.

Car insurance is probablyu the most prohibitive though. It's getting ridiculous now.

The slight 'fly in the ointment' in terms of me buying an '86 is you can't actually get an insurance quote on one yet as they're not officially on sale. Most irritating.

Yes, I went onto Consued.com and entered all my details then "Please choose your car..." oh...

Given that a 1.3l hatchback worth about 50% of the value etc.... will cost me around £500 a year I'm guessing you could almost double that for a 2l rear wheel drive sports car.

<nods> 'faking' a quote for as near as an equivalent I can get works out (for me) at roughly £1100 a year. Say £1200 for the real thing. That's a fair lump of cash but it's actually only about 1/3 more than I'm being charged on a celica worth approximately 1/12 of a new '86...

Well, just bought a car!

Woop!

It's on PCP which is kind of ideal as it's cheaper than all the full Leasing contracts I saw but still gives me the option of swapping out for a new car in 3 years time.

I went for the Yaris SR in Tidal Blue (exclusive to the SR version). I decided not to go for the SatNav option as it costs around £400 to add it and only adds SatNav (the other options depend on having a bluetooth hotspot thing on your phone which I don't have). Will get a TomTom for £100 if I need it (which I most likely won't).

It's got everything on it though! All the usual (AC, Electric Windows and Mirrors etc...) plus the SR has blacked out rear windows, turn-on-and-off-able traction control, sports suspension, etc... Plus it has bluetooth phone controls an AUX slot for old fashioned music and a USB connection for iPods (gonna stick my iPod Classic in there and leave it there). And it has a rear view camera through the 6.1" screen for when reversing! LOL!

Got a bargain part ex price of £1500 on my car also! I was expecting between £700 - £1000 for it!

Because of the colour I have to wait for July 23rd though :( although it does mean I have something to look forward to!

Can't wait!! WOOP!

(Thanks for the advice and tips all)
