I've always been slow at reading. Not because I struggle to read but whgen I read I almost vocalise each word in my head and read at the same speed I would read aloud to someone.

372 words.
It originally gave me one score, but when I answered the questions (3/3), I got a higher one?

Okay so I got 189 words in a number of seconds which was then extrapolated to wpm. Now it's 579. I'm not that fast!

The original scores says how long you took to read all the words in the excerpt. i.e. You took 39.4 seconds to read 372 words. The second (once it verifies that you actually read them) is the number of WPM you read. i.e. You read 566 words per minute.

Yeah I figured it out. Anyways, I vary in my speed since I like to try and imagine things at the same time. When I do this, my reading speed drops to 429

You read 687 words per minute. That makes you 175% faster than the national average.

I actually found it very hard to read at any speed at all. Dark grey on light grey is not a good combination when viewing a 'self illuminating' screen like a computer monitor.

290 or 16% faster than average
I can read faster but when I'm reading for enjoyment I like to slow the pace down and make sure I take it all in.
e.g. tried it again (although I already knew the answers to the 3 questions) and got 484 or 94% faster than average. There's no way I'd read a novel like that though.

284 words per minute, I slowed down when I started having sub edit stuff, used to read a lot faster, having said that, i had music on and feel like [LIFTED] today. :edit: 349 wpm without the headphones: 40% faster than average.

510 wpm, 104% faster than average.
It depends on the text though. I don't imagine I would read anything technical that fast.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

286 here I have the same issue as you - in order to read a text, I internally say it to myself. This made university a struggle
