Anyone else got something similar recently?

I think they throw in random text to try and get past various Beysian filters. You get some quite entertaining emails as a result.

Annoyingly I've been getting spam in my inbox from the first time in years recently. Maybe for the last week and a half. I may have to turn up the spam filter level on my ISP's controls.

I hardly get any these days, barring the occasional phishing email from a bank I don't have an account with.

Going back to the mail that Fin posted: What on earth is the point of mailing that out? What are they hoping to achieve?

A lot of spam filters work based on words used in spam messages. By sending spam with other words & phrases in them they can both verify their lists (to sell on) and hope to make spam filters ineffective as they end up blocking so many words that legitimate mail gets blocked so the owners turn them off or reduce the level on them)
