Right I'm getting closer to my renewal date, have to keep my contract or I will lose the benefits on the other phones I have on it (GF and kids) so I might as well have a new phone.

Current is the HTC Desire, it's been a fab phone apart from the phones internal memory being too small and you cant always move apps over to the SD.

Looked at the One X and S but HTC seems to have gone off the idea of changeable memory mSD... wtf? Having said that I have a 4g mSD in my Desire and have never thought about buying bigger, I was just amazed that they have taken that away from the user.

Presumably they've done some market research and found out that the large majority of their customers don't ever (or very rarely) change/remove the memory card in the device, as you suggest. Fitting a memory card slot adds cost, complicates the design plus if you remove it you can add a somewhat bigger battery. For them, not fitting a card slot is a better option. The question is will their users see it as a valuable feature lost, or do the vast majority take the thing out of the box, plug the supplied card into the slot and then never touch it again?

Most people don't swap cards, cards can fail and some software has problems being installed on cards, so they are starting to follow the iOS and Windows Phone 7 model of just using internal memory. With 32GB you shouldn't have any problems, if you haven't filled the 4GB card.

My Sensation came with an 8GB card and I keep thinking of upgrading it, but it still has about 2GB free...

Funnily enough, I started with an iPhone 3G 32GB, then an htc 7 Mozart 16GB and now the Sensation with 8GB and I've never had problems with filling them up, ok, I haven't bothered copying my photo collection (which pushed the iPhone and Mozart up to around 12GB) to the Sensation, because I rarely used the photo gallery...

My feeling exactly. That's why I'd much rather they remove the SD slot and have that storgage built in instead.

SWMBO has just upgraded her phone and has gone to the X1 fro a iphone 3GS (Which I have inherited)

Its a bit of a learning curve (for me as I provide Tec Support) as never used android - so I will ask a Qu (and ask it in the Phones etc forum)

When adding music how do I attach album art (where the art is NOT on the gracenotes D/B). I can find a piccy on google of the album and save that piccy but dont know how to attach it to the album in the phone

The X1 runs Android 4

Good question. No idea, I've never put music on any of my phones...

Here are a couple of links that might get you going:

Album Art Grabber: (free)

Blog - how to display your album art:

Forum question:

Hope that helps.

Right I'm days away from a change of phone. Passed the phone counter in Tescos and saw the S3 and thought nice "nice phone".... So One X or S3 is my dilemma. I love Sense but not sure about the limitation of no microSD although I'm sure I wouldn't need anymore.

The S3 on paper is the faster phone and is more geared for media playing mkv etc straight out of the box with no 3rd sw.

As I've only used HTC smart phones I assume all apps work on all Android phones via play? As I have purchased a few over the last two years.

For me personally I'd still have the One X as I'm not convinced by Samsung TouchWiz. I guess it really is a personal choice though.

The memory limitation doesn't worry me as I only have an 8GB MicroSD in my Sensation and it's less than half full. I've got plenty of apps but not a great deal of media so I can't see me needing more anytime soon.

Not every app works on every phone but as you're upgrading to a better spec I don't think you'll have any problems.

I'd got for the HTC. A mate at work recently bought a new Samsung smartphone. He found a few annoying little bugs with it. Nothing major, but things that annoyed him that didn't happen on my HTC.

There's very much a straw that broke the camel's back element to Samsung phones IME.

Like I said before, I'll see what HTC have on the market next year. For me the One series is just too big physically or too small internally.
