I'm sure you shared your plans once before. Didn't it involve you personally having a gun and patrolling the mean streets dispensing summary extra-judicial justice to "scum" like Batman's psychotic uncle?

Good question. The problem with prisons is that they were conceived merely to hold the convict until the actual punishment (e.g. flogging, hanging, transportation) could be administered. As those various punishments became increasingly restricted or obsolete, prison evolved to become the centre-piece of the punishment that it is today. However, this was as a series of reactions to punsihments becoming unavailable, rather than as a specific policy of convict confinement. So the problem, as I see it, is that the prison system itself has evolved piecemeal out of the retribution system and, no matter how much rehabilitation is bolted on, cannot escape the issue that retribution and conflict are at its core. What needs to be thought up is a system where rehabilitation is the core of the justice system, and retribution is a necessary adjunct to that. But how to do it? God knows.

Well it was on the PC Pro forums so I guess there is no way to look it up now. But I distinctly recall that you proposed armed citizen militia patrols, and unashamedly referred to the "satisfaction" you would take from shooting "scum". Clearly my recollection is in error, and you would never take satisfaction from proactive lethal justice.

i have no problem shooting any scum i was trained to do so and have done so and would so again without worry and a lot of troops are coming home which think/act/trained the same you are going to see a whole world of pain happen and the villains are not going to be happy, hopefully just don't get in the way, they are out of your league ...

Oh so soldiers etc are entitled to dispense extrajudicial punishment now? I never knew school dropouts were better at maintaining law and order (not to mention detecting crime) than civilians - many of whom have law, policing or sociology degrees.
Wow, just think of the savings we could make by dispensing with the civilian police forces & the civilian court system in favour of military "justice"!

Easy now Linux, you're dealing with a merciless killer and he's started deploying his random series of dots...
If he starts 'quote marking' randomly chosen words you probably have 24 hours to collect the the things you love and run for the hills.
