I got this game shortly before having to go to work today. And then I had to endure a movie night with housemates and friends (normally this is cause for merriment and joy, however with the prospect of a new game sat infront of me BEGGING to be played this changes almost instantly).
Anyway i've played the first few minutes.
My GOD i've not felt so COOL in a long long time.
I reckon spoilers would probably be unwelcome, but seeing as it's the first thing that happens in the game and it's not really plot-based (as far as I know, i've not played much) i'm going to have to share this.
I ran up a building, jumped backwards and glided shortly before powering down onto a tank which subsequently blew up, killing most people in the vicinity. Claws grew out of me and I stabbed someone and threw them at a helicopter, which crashed into a building killing a few more people. I then picked up a car, used it as a shield to get close to a tank and downed another helicopter with this car, punched the tank so hard that it flew into another one and both blew up. I finished this little party by using a "special" move involving tentacles and claws going into the ground and out again, elsewhere.
*twitches slightly*
I've orchestrated nuclear holocausts in Civilization. I've jumped off an orbiting spaceship and blown up planets in Halo. I've used Guardian Forces in FFVIII.
But none of these games makes me feel even near to as powerful as I felt when I played that first small chapter of Prototype.
Expect a semen-stained review soon.

Nice! Are you playing XBox or PS3 version? I REALLY WANT A CONSOLE NOW! Looks very nice from what I have seen on demos etc...

Xbox version.
Load times are surprisingly short for a game so big (I have come to expect long load times from the ageing tech) and the visuals, whilst not on par with PS3 visuals most of the time, are pretty mindblowing.
The only annoying thing is the deafening roar of my DVD drive, which I shall be countering with an install of the game. Might have to invest in one of those 360 PC case things.

Good choice! Awesome game. About to start it again as an evil electronic freak! Interesting how you found Prototype boring but £35 saved! Cheers!

What I heard about Prototype is you have immense power and spend 10 minutes at the start of the game levelling everything in sight. Sounds awesome. Then all those powers get taken away and you spend the rest of the game getting them back. Grrrrrrrr

It certainly seems that way... The first 10 minutes of the game seem to be the conclusion to the game. But sucky as it SOUNDS it's actually pretty sweet - I know how to do everything now because I spent so long dicking around >.<

I like the reviews. Seems to be around the 7 out of 10 mark which is so-so. Then again so was inFamous on one site (maybe Eurogamer) and others are raving about that one. Maybe one for me to look out for when Tesco et al knock a few quid off.The description kind of reminds me of Crackdown style action, leaping buildings and throwing cars on poor unsuspecting peeps!
