I like to think if there was a god, this sort of nonsense would be the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, 'I give you all the cool sh1t, but noooo...'

I hate the US patent system, take something that has been around for years, slap the words "mobile device" on the end it becomes a new patent!

Apple was ordered by a judge to publish a notice on its U.K. website and in British newspapers alerting people to a ruling that Samsung Electronics Co. didn’t copy designs for the iPad.

The notice should outline the July 9 London court decision that Samsung’s Galaxy tablets don’t infringe Apple’s registered designs, Judge Colin Birss said yesterday. It should be posted on Apple’s U.K. home page for six months and published in newspapers and magazines to correct any impression the South Korea-based company was copying Apple’s product, Birss said.

As well as Apple’s website, the company must pay for notices in the Financial Times, the Daily Mail, Guardian Mobile magazine, and T3, according to a draft copy of the order provided by Samsung’s lawyers.

Normally I would "That'll teach them" but this is Apple we are talking about...

Already being discussed - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16814

Apple are appealing the ruling. I doubt they'll get it reversed but it wouldn't surprise me if the terms end up being modified into oblivion.

Apple should use the wording of the ruling in the ads "not as cool as the iPad".

Presumably the answer to that is 'not far enough to get the head of Apple UK in jail for contempt of court'. The courts really, really don't like people taking the mickey out of them.

I was thinking about how it would read, the whole cool bit could be important if they actually managed to work that in
