The swimming was absolutely brilliant! The noise was just inconceivable and every time the UK or USA did *anything* the entire place went crackers! I am still on a high of some variety 2 hours later and may never come down. What a fantastic job the UK have done/are doing!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Today I'll mostly be paying attention to the cricket :). Rochmawati - the archer with the amazing hat - has gone out at the 'round of 16' stage after losing a single arrow 'closest to the centre' shoot out with a Russian. GB's medal chances seem concentrated on this evening, with the swimming finals and things starting up in the velodrome. Does anyone know if Bradley Wiggins is competing indoors, or does he consider the TdF, road race and time trial to be enough for one year .

I believe he's done and dusted - bleedin' part-timer!

He made a comment about having a few Vodka Tonics and then cheering on his teamies at the Velodrome.

Now that I have two nationalites and a gf with a third, I'm finding it quite difficult deciding who to root for.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Any member of the Commonwealth, surely? ;)

Our press was complaining about some of our favoured athletes not winning gold - but imagine how the Aussies must be feeling

Australia has always punched well above it's weight in international sport, but in the 2012 Olympics has so far not achieved much at all.

I wouldn't mind seeing an Olympic medal tally corrected for population. Thankfully The Guardian has provided just that.

Sort of puts things in perspective. Go Slovenia!

Australia are not the only team in tears.

GB Lightweight Four rowers win silver

We're now down to 12th in the medal table. However in the double trap (clay pigeon shooting) we're currently in the gold medal position. The final of that starts at 3PM.

All Mexican semi-final in the women's archery. They're guaranteed of at least a silver. They're quite pleased about this.

Pete Wilson wins gold in the trap shooting! BBC ticker says we've also won gold AND silver in the canoeing! I think we're up to 6th...

Won't that put us in 5th?

Could be. To be honest we're winning medals all over the place so it's hard to keep up  :D

Women's archery has gone to shoot-off. One arrow to win a gold medal! Ki Bo Bae of South Korea wins it, Mexcio get bronze and silver.. And the bloody stream has switched to an empty badminton court! what?

Actually, it looks like the BBC might be having a bit of a problem

Yep, Silver. The American outclassed her, TBH.

Impressive haul of medals today, with good chances of more later this evening.
