Probably right. What's crap now is that I've had lunch. I can remain awake for hours if I don't eat but if I have a decent meal, I'm liable to fall asleep. And I've just been to subway.

I'm sure all of the south park episodes from America censor the f word but I've just noticed the episodes on Viva don't censor it. Will have to go back and rewatch earlier episodes that I have.

It was a cruel twist of fate for mosquitoes that they find your eardrum so attractive, they'd be completely undetectable otherwise.

The searing pain next to my left shoulder blade.
It's even making my chest twinge.
Yes, I think I've trapped something, locked up the top third of my spine again.
So I'll be off to the chiropractor ASAP.

Wondering if Threads is the most grim piece of television/film I have ever seen.

Went out to the pub on Friday. Had three beers, walked the 3 miles home. I've now caught a cold and so far from my bed/desk today I've watched Kidulthood, Adulthood, Threads and The Last Samurai. Really hoping I won't need this much tissue to get through tomorrow!!

But really, anything more depressing than Threads - ever?? That's the second time I've watched it and I'm not sure I want to again, but in a weird way I feel like everyone should...

I remember this being on back in the mid 80's and feeling very depressed afterwards. It had the same effect on everyone I knew who had also seen it. Although a bit dated it is very powerful.

Threads was an incredible piece of TV. It came out after the BBC had aired The Day After - a much more optimistic view of the outcome - but it was American and they like things with a jolly ending.

Threads was a collaboration between the BBC's science and drama divisions - and followed on from an episode of QED that theorised what would happen if a nuclear weapon exploded above St Paul's Cathedral in London.

All chilling stuff.

Was there something similar to Threads that was aired in the late 90s/early 00s?

I seem to recall some kind of post apocolyptic Britain where wild dogs ran the streets. Human survivors tried to reach some place. One of the girls at my sister's school was in it and I believe she was the daughter of a West Midlands news presenter.

Why do so many people think that the GBR is one single lifeform, and the only lifeform visible from space?

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system[1][2] composed of over 2,900 individual reefs[3] and 900 islands stretching for over 2,600 kilometres (1,600 mi) over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres (133,000 sq mi).
