We spent the first day doing pool drills learning the essential skills. Our instructor Matt was brilliant, he explained things very well and was extremely patient but more importantly very encouraging and positive towards my wife, who became a little apprehensive. Our sincerest thanks to you Matt as the whole family now have access to another world.

A little apprehensive! I know the pool is quite chilly, but I don't think she was shaking from hypothermia. Anyway, mission accomplished

i went through my PADI open water diver certification with Matt and it was a real pleasure to learn with him, while discovering the amazing barrier reef. He is dedicated, patient, fun, and an amazingly good coach. Totally worth the money.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Thanks.

I put in over 120% for that first review, and I have no doubt that many other instructors would have let her (the wife) quit on any of the three occasions she told me to just carry on without her. She even had the cheek to apologise for the extra 45 minutes she added to the pool session. 45 minutes? More like two hours.

Nothing wrong with going the extra mile. I'm now getting invited to leaving dos at the office because they feel I have given them good customer service and I have formed good relationships with people.

I have been having a go at running. There is a lane behind our house that only leads up to a farm and I have been running it at dusk, up and down twice or three times, about once a week (I run a bit like Nick Frost)

Today I got curious and worked out how long the lane is, turns out it's 1000M or 0.6 of a mile so I've been running between 1.2 and 1.8 miles once a week! :o I had no idea I could run over a mile, so now I'm keen to push on and work out how many more times I can run the lane before I die!

I am having a day of win thus far. I got up at 07:45 and weighed myself, I only have 8kg to go before I can get my op. Then I went to fit camp UK and did much better than I thought I was going to. I'm actually much fitter, can run further and for long than I thought. Then I went to New Look with my birthday voucher and am sitting here in a brand new SIZE 16 top. I suspect I haven't been a size 16 since I was 16 and that was 20 years ago!

So that's 27kg (4.2stone) and from a size 24 to 16 (18 on the bottom) in 7 months!

WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN

Great news Zippy.

But, if you have lost so much weight, and intend to lose more, then is now the right time to be buying new clothes?

Of course a bloke should never ask a woman this sort of question. ;)

Well, I have no trousers to wear to work that don't look like potato sacks, and all my tops are 4 sizes too big. I've made 11 new holes in my belt and had to lop 7 inches off it just to keep it under control. I've bought 2 tops and will be buying one pair of trousers, but since I hate shopping AND have vowed never to own a wardrobe for every size, I don't think 1 pair of trousers and 2 tops are excessive

Thanks! I think it's the push I needed to keep going for the last 8kg until I can get the op. Who knows what's going to keep me going after that?!

Congrats!
if you are still losing weight I'd advise findin a charity shop in a wealthy area to buy clothes meanwhile. I have found some gorgeous things that were barely worn in mine :)
Also have a look at Gizzy Erskine's website if you want nice recipes. She does a lot of low fat treats :)

Congrats on the loss - I'm sure you will find something - maybe a treat if you reach a certain weight
