This is getting ridiculous.

Imagine the longest, most complex government form you’ve ever had to fill out and you start to have an idea what jurors will face as they begin to consider their verdict in the patent infringement case between Apple and Samsung.

The verdict form, a tentative version of which was filed to the San Jose District Court on Monday, runs to 22 pages and has 36 main questions. But the devil is in the details: Because there are so many patents, products and company subsidiaries involved, there are more than 700 individual questions to consider.

Effectively, the jury can’t just answer with a simple “yes” or “no” (though I’ve never expected it to be that straight forward) - it has to consider each bit of Samsung, each product and how much each would attract in damages. So a massive form has to be completed. No doubt the legal teams of both will pick through them and appeal.

Here’s a draft of the form:

Is it Bleak House where there's a legal case as part of the story which has been going on for the entire adult life of one of the characters?

Update - yes it is : Jarndyce vs Jarndyce. To quote

I can’t see either Apple or Samsung winning this. For the one who “wins” I feel it will be something of a pyrrhic victory.

We must also remember that Samsung is one of Apple’s major suppliers.
