I got 7 too and would have no idea if I was correct.

I remember BODMAS from year 7 and it was probably the only thing I understood until we covered trigonometry.

Trigonometry was one of the few things I "got" straight away and didn't forget.

Seems you younguns have the advantage then. I wasn't taught "BODMAS" wtf that is?! We just used a lot of brackets and I vaguely remember multiplication coming first.

But like I said, most of you are smarter than me.

Brackets Orders Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction

A memory aid for the processing of equations. Although I can never remember what the 'o' stands for, so it's not much aid to my memory...

Never even heard of BODMAS before (I blame Thatcher's Britain!) - however, if it had been presented in the way "l3v1ck" wrote with brackets...

6 - (1 x 0) + (2 / 2) = ?????

...then I would have got 7.

As it was presented, I came to 1.
:?

I remember the use of brackets to break down a sum, but can't remember anything about doing multiplication first. Maybe we weren't taught that, or maybe I've just forgotten it. More worrying is that I got an A in GSCE Maths!!

Brackets Orders Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction

We never had BODMAS when I was at school. We were taught Brackets, first, additions/subtractions last.
WTF are "Orders"?

We were taught it as BODMAS, BIDMAS, PIMDAS and a number of other variations on a theme. The O or I is for Orders (of) or Indices.

Another one I see a lot is PEMDAS.

P = parentheses
E = exponents

That's not maths. This is sums. A Level maths basically boils down to sums. Sums are cool. Maths is horrible.
