I must have missed that particular advertisement. Does it count towards your 5 a day then? Cool!

It was very famous indeed: "A Mars a Day helps you Work, Rest and Play"

Quite apt in some Scottich chippys. The worst chippy I've ever been to is in Dyce (Aberdeen). Not only are the chips crap, they deep fry everything..... Pies, pizza, the lot.

I've never tried a deep fried mars bar.
As for "healthy", these days everyone's jumping on the bandwagon. A Mars bar is "healthy" as part of a balanced diet. Or at least that's their viewpoint.

Deep fried pizza - I've had it once. It was... EPIC. Slices, dipped in batter, deep fried. You should try it just once.

Isn't there a famous scottish takeout.. can't remember the name of it, but it's basically an enormous pile of deep-fried food in a pizza box. Saw a photo once that was enough to turn any reasonable human being anorexic.

I don't know, but I've seen at least two chippys in Aberdeen selling "mock chops".

Best fish and chips I've had were at the Lighthouse restaurant at Flamborough Head. Chippies here on the island are, by and large, very poor; with a couple of notable exceptions. A soggy ball of discoloured potato worms, swimming in grease, does not pass for a bag of chips. Never had a deep-fried pie, pizza or mars bar. Can't see the attraction TBH. A deep-fried haggis supper is a completely different matter, and frikkin gorgeous!

Aha! I found that takeaway I was thinking of. It's called a 'munchy box'. And this is what it looks like...

That looks nothing like as bad as you had described it; more like a mixed kebab with some added chips.

Bear in mind that box is for a 12" pizza.
