Marginly better. Is the amount of extra money for two years worth it? Probably not. More and more people I know (Android and iOS users alike) are going sim only for a year or two after their contract ends. That way they're saving money for when the improvements are worth it.

Here are the reasons I want to upgrade from my iPhone 4: - Better camera - I now only use my phone as a camera, the new iPhone should perform better in low light and offer better resolutions.
- Faster - When the iPhone 3GS came out it was only ~200MHz faster than my first gen iPod Touch but I very quickly noticed apps lagging, I expect to feel the same in the next 6 months if I continue to use my iPhone 4.
- Siri - More and more I want to do stuff with my phone while driving, Siri should remedy this
- More space - I ordered my iPhone 4 with 16GB of space and it's now not enough. I could just upgrade to another iPhone 4, but if I'm upgrading that I might as well look at upgrading the whole thing.

Not so much the hardware admittedly but if you've got an iPhone 4 (i.e. not a 4S) there are quite a few of the 'high end' features in iOS6 that only work on the 4S or later. Might not be worth the price of a 'full fat' upgrade, but I'd have a look at how much it would cost you to move to a 4S. if that's relatively cheap, might be worth considering. Jon

I'll wait and see what features ios6 has first I think. I'd go for the 5 rather than the 4s though as it would cost the same as I'm used to paying. I'll just have a bit of a rest from the upgrade thing for a while.

I'll be outside the Orange shop next Friday morning. Been reading about EE's new 4G network. EE is the new company for Everything Everywhere and will be taking over from Orange T-Mobile. They launched two days ago and have already started rolling out their 4G cellular network. It will be available to anyone on Orange T-Mobile. I cannot wait

I'd at least check if there's likely to be 4G coverage where you tend to be fairly soon before grabbing the sleeping bag . Quite fed up with the BBC's reporting of the whole 4G thing TBH. Rory wossface was demoing it on the news. He compared the performance of a standard 3G phone in a room that also included a huge bunch of tech journalists all with 3G devices on them to a 4G phone hooked up to EE's test LTE network which therefore had practically zero contention. The 4G phone was much faster! Amazeballs! test result : Rory wossface is an utter imbecile. Jon

I'd be happy with 3G, which is scarce enough, outside the major conurbations.
At a glance the new iphone looks to be behind the competition for a change, and the new dock connector is going to piss off a lot of people.

That's not the only reason. Just would like an upgrade and would get it with or without 4G

Well of course I'm aware of that. Doesn't make the demonstration any less stupid. Jon

Well my brother's just posted on Facebook that his 3G's just been nicked. As he's still on contract for the 4 that was nicked earlier in the year, I may well upgrade and pass on my 4 for a small fee.
At some point he might learn that leaving your phone on your desk when you work in an office that has walk-ins is not a good idea!
