Every time I've visited the BBC website over the last few days, the layout is broken.

I haven't changed anything in Chrome, and it isn't Adblock that's causing it.
screen grab

It gets worse when I go further into the site:
Grab 2

Any ideas, peeps?

Looks like an external CSS file isn't loading properly?
Have you tried clearing caches and possibly removing BBC cookies? (no idea how you do that in Chrome, think it's in "Settings" under the spanner icon?)

That's what I thought, so I cleared everything in Chrome, but still no joy.

It really is a head-scratcher.

I'm assuming it's a config issue, but for the record it seems to work fine on Ubuntu 12.04 and OS X Lion.

It's not loading the style sheet "static.bbci.co.uk/frameworks/barlesque/2.10.0/desktop/3.5/style/main.css" for some reason by the looks of it, possibly not any of them. That's what it looks like if I block it.

Do you have any other plugins that could be blocking it?

I only have adblock installed, but it still does it if I completely disable adblock instead of just allowing the bbc site.

[edit] just went back into settings and selected "delete user", which is pretty much a reset to defaults option. Still the same. :?

If you click settings / tools / developer tools and look at the stylesheets drop-down under the resources option, can you see main.css and is there anything in it when you highlight it?

If so, under the Elements option can you see it as a matched rule?

Although frankly, I don't know what to do next. It's either not loading it, or it's not reading it right. In either case I'm out of ideas.

Is your internet connection stupidly slow? Perhaps Chrome just times out too early.

Thanks JJ, I'll have a look in the morning and report back - I only use Chrome on my work PC.

I get this sometimes, especially with PCPro.co.uk

Refreshing a few times usually clears it up, but sometimes I have to live with it for a couple of days - Firefox. This has nothing to do with the browser, the external CSS is probably timing out.

Sometimes rebooting your router can fix these little glitches, especially if it picks up a different gateway address - have you rebooted it recently?

Stylesheet shows - chrome://resources/css/chrome_shared.css

Under Elements - chrome://resources/css/chrome_shared.css

I'll have to wait until the end of the day (or maybe lunch time) before I do that - I can't imagine the whole site will appreciate me knocking them offline for a few minutes. Although, I asked a colleague to load up BBC on her machine, and it was fine.

Powered it all down for a couple of minutes at lunchtime. Fired it up - no change. :|
