One thing that is causing problems over at giffgaff is that they have no nano sims so customers are leaving to join Three.

Ordered my iPhone 5 on Monday with Three, also ordered a couple of adaptors and cables from Apple so that I can have one in the bedroom, one at my desk and one in the van.

Quite a bit has happened, but I will not bore you with the details. Thanks for the welcome and concern.

Just seen a posting - someone has run geekbench on the iPhone 5.

it scored 1600. This is higher than the score a mid-spec power mac would have achieved the day the original iPhone was launched...

Apple EarPod headphones 'more durable' but still 'throw away'

http://www.techradar.com/news/audio/app ... ay-1098362

I couldn't believe how crap previous sets sounded, to my ears anyway. I found myself lending a lot of people my £5 Panasonics that didn't 'leak' as much so they could decide for themselves :o

'Yeah, only a fiver at Argos.'

These days I go for the 'noise-cancelling' jobs from Sennheiser or Skullcandy.

If you like bass I would recommend a-Jays Two for £23. Good sound, nicely packaged, lots of ear size adapters and an anti-tangle flat cable.

clicky

Since 11 September Apple has posted six job vacancies for iOS software engineers in the maps division - search for maps to uncover the listings. The job descriptions describe "proactive and hardworking software engineers", and make the debatable claim that the lucky hires will be working on "the best mapping program on any mobile platform". It reads:

Our team is responsible for displaying map content for the Maps application on iOS. It is used by millions of customers and it's the best mapping program on any mobile platform.

they obviously decidied not to look at any other platform to check on this claim

Its a bit corp bullcrap isn't it. Now if they'd said they'd be working on 'making the best mapping program on any mobile platform', fair enough. That's a target, not a statement. I think there'd also be a lot of argument as to whether it's actually going to be used by millions of customers, or just be on their phones and ignored...

Plus I'm wondering how many of those jobs suddenly became vacant when people got to see what Apple Maps was actually like.
