As far as the Police are concerned, there are 60 complaints that they consider to be reasonable and worthy of investigation; out of how many, I don't know.

Presumably these cases have sufficient detail and similarity in their content, perhaps with verifiable detail surrounding the incident that the Police consider them worth the time.
Now, let's consider, say, John Travolta. Recently there's been a few men come forward to say 'he's molested me'.
However, in these cases, the numbers are less than five, and at least one was found to be grossly inaccurate about the time and date.
Here, there are 60(!) people with stories with presumably corroborable details.

Yes, he might guilty. Over 60 people might have made up their stories and through some act of chance, come up with something similar to each other that the Police aren't dismissing them.
Or, on the other hand, Savile* was a predatory sex offender, like his brother, who's moral compass didn't think that Gary Glitter's viewing choices were a bit off or worth prosecution.

Somervile? ;)

I don't know if it's that joke that was doing the rounds, but I've nearly said his name in conversation too

It's odd. Reading through the thread. Everyone is posting as though he is absolutely guilty and there is no other option. Only Zippy is posting as though nothing has actually been found or proven yet.

I am sceptical about the whole thing. I'm not saying he is innocent. Just that it seems off given the timings of everything.

I'm with Zippy on this. Just because there is an investigation doesn't mean he is guilty.

Given the sheer number of people coming forward, and also BBC bods who have said things such as 'I saw Jimmy Savile having sex with a girl in his dressing room', I'm prepared to stick my neck out and say there's something to it.

We also have yet to see the film Newsnight prepared last year.

the only problem with this is that the more that is reported in the public domain the lesser chance of a court case against the agents that aided and abetted (same sorry story)
as they will use the age old excuse of a fair trail and their 'human rights'

the establishment (lower, middle and upper) are pulling together on this ...

Yes there could be something to this story, as the numbers are becoming larger. Though if there were people who aided him then we also need prosecutions to eliminate them from society, and put them behind bars. If this gets too messy the chances of fair trials disappear.
