About 26 years, but then I realise that 6 of those was mucking around at Uni getting a degree in colouring in. So make that 20, if you can count self-employment as work.

First job was a saturday job when I was in college, so that would've been 96ish.
So... 16 years? There have been gaps of unemployment along the way mind you.
This present job is coming up on 18 months, and that's the longest stretch of employment I've ever had.

This is hard to decide.

I started my first job in 1980. I became self-employed in 2001, but have dipped in and out of paid work since. Technically, I am still self-employed, but with very little work around I may as well be unemployed.

Let's pretend I've been working since 1980. I feel old.

1981 here, worked as a computer teacher for some neighbours at 14! Earned reasonable money as well.

Then a bit of a pause 2002-2005, nominally self employed, but just enough to get me by, then a couple of decent projects, a project seminar at the local uni and then full-time since 2008.

I left school in 1984... since I'm already busy teaching maths, (it's playtime, hence my presence) I'll let you do the working out bit.

Not counting my university industrial placement year I'm coming up on 11 years (or 12 if the IP year counts).
