Queue up lawsuits all over the world for the blatant copying of a marketing campaign pioneered by apple http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/10/ ... one-check/Anyway, I would be very interested in this phone had it have an exchangeable battery. So for now I will stay put but might change my mind later. It is coming out on Monday 29/10. My second gen Nexus S is two years old but it has the latest os (Jelly Bean 4.1.1) so definitely vanilla google phones are worth a look.

I won't be buying this Nexus device, I don't put much faith in LG as a manufacturer and I'm not sold on the 'glitterball' back panel.

SuperbadassEndfOfTheFreekin'WorldHurricane Sandy put the mockers on Google's proposed press conference, but they've gone and announced the new stuff anyway. Nexus 4 - made by LG, looks quite nice, only 16GB of storage, no price yet Nexus 10 - your direct iPad competitor, 16GB for £319 or 32GB for £369. Wifi only right now but there is.. 32GB Nexus 7 3G - £239 Unlocked They will all run Android 4.2, which (IIRC) is a new thing? So, as far as I can tell, Google and Apple now effectively sell the same mobile products, right? I think the only one that there isn't an equivalent in the other's catalogue is the 'full' ipad 4G, assuming you say 3G and 4G are pretty much the same thing to most people.

I'd have to agree with this. Apart from the 'give me one now' Nexus 4. Whilst the price is frankly amazing I'm not sure about manufacturer. Also the lack of a Tegra 3 might put off some mobile gamers. I'll wait to see when the reviews go up as I'm due an upgrade soon and just can't be bothered with the expense of a pricey handset/contract e.g. iPhone5, Note II, SIII, One X+ I'm liking the Nexus 10. Lovely screen and a good few quid cheaper than an iPad. If I had a need for a tablet this is the one I'd be getting.

I suspect it will be very nice. As will the Nexus 4. However I can't deal with a mobile device that only has 16GB of storage. I just don't want to buy into the 'store everything in the cloud' thing. I actually had a quick play with the Amazon tabs last night in a supermarket. The Kindle Fire feels a bit.. old school. It's very square and very thick and very heavy. The Fire HD on the other hand feels like a proper modern tablet. Both seemed very responsive and 'smooth' to use although I didn't get to do a whole lot with them since they didn't have many apps installed.

The Snapdragon more than meets my needs TBH, I don't play demanding 3D games on my phone.

I think I'm having a Nexus 4. I've been thinking more and more about it and it's good value for money (seemingly), will allow me to move to a SIM only cheap deal after Xmas and stop me spending a silly amount on an iphone5. I'll miss HTC Sense but it's a price I'm prepared to pay.

Although I'll be buying it SIM free I've seen some initial contracts at CPW. Considering the relative cheepness of the Nexus 4 the contacts are a rip off IMO.

Two things about Nexus 4 are putting me off right now: 1. Non inter-changeable battery 2. Lack of LTE
I could get over the battery but no LTE is a big deal. I intend to use a phone for at least two years so I don't really want to blow that purchase one without it. And something tells me that Google won't wait another 12 months (standard Nexus cycle) before they have LTE phone. I can see LTE version coming out withing next 6 months.

I've never changed the battery on any phone I've had so I'm not worried about that. I also don't plan on forking out for 4G any time soon but as I'm only intending on getting a one year SIM only deal I can review in 12 months.
