Indeed, it's a very beautiful car but sadly for all intents and purposes it might as well be on the moon. However I content myself I'm driving one of it's ancestors . I'd forgotten how utterly awful the Brosnan period was for cars. What were they thinking (yes, I know, money, but surely BMW can't have paid them enough to debase themselves so badly)? Am I the only one thinking the 'transit covered in LCD screens' thing actually worked surprisingly well considering?

I know that BMW even supplied all the unit cars on that one. I've been up close to a 2000GT, except Toyota had 'greened' it with an array of solar panels and an electric motor. Disappointing.

Well I like it. Once we have all those nice new Japanese nuclear reactors, we'll be able to run the nice new Japanese electric car and feel environmentally smug.

Craig was asked about product placement in the film, and he was quite honest about it. He's not keen on it, but the film won't get made without the sponsorship. It's a fact of life for big budget movie making.

I can understand the financial necessity. As long as it is discrete it does not matter, but when they insist on Bond ordering a Heineken and Jagerbombs it does make it a joke.

I agree, with a bit of a tweak it could have been made a lot better but for what it was it worked really well.

But almost by definition it can't be discrete.

I think it depends if the product in question fits in the with image and cachet of Bond. A good brand of Champagne - yes. Heineken? Only if going under cover. Aston Martin? Yes. BMW? only, as Hammond rightly pound out, if going under cover as a sales rep. The only problem the "Bond Brands" have is that retry much no one in the audience could afford a Bond product, so they are paying to advertise to an audience who wants but can not have. So the cheaper brands have the edge - they can have some of the things that Bond touches. It makes the movie more inclusive, and advertisers like that.

As Bond goes undercover many products could be viable as products that he would genuinely use in his under cover role.

I think Bond is actually the least secret secret agent in history. Half his mortal enemies seem to know who he is before he even turns up.

That's what Roger Moore said. Something along the lines of "I don't know what he is but he's not a spy is he. He goes in to any bar in most of Europe and the world and the barman instantly knows who he is and what he drinks".

Bond is a decoy agent. While he's going around doing a lot of high profile work, proper spies are doing proper spy work and keeping the world safe. The fact that the Queen know who he is tells us that he's there for show rather than anything truly serious.
