My point about cocaine seems to have been missed. I'm well aware of its previous use. What I was trying to ascertain is whether a set of laws is a reflection of what the (majority of) people are willing to abide by or not. If everyone's attitudes to cocaine changed overnight, then IMO it should be reflected in law and hence either decriminalised or legalised. But the question is: would it?

In general laws are created by the judiciary, in case law or by parliament ( god help us ) or by European legal system ( double god help us ) - me cynical never So in theory, popular pressure on Parliament could get a law created / changed. It only seems to happen with very high profile stomach wrenching things e.g. “Sarah's Law”. I'm struggling to understand what would cause that change to happen in public perception to drive the cocaine one through. Cure for Cancer maybe? ( not meaning to be sarcastic so please don't take it that way )

Voting for the Police Commissioner chappy tomorrow. I really don't want to vote for a Tory, Labour, Lib Dem or UKIP puppet. However, after looking at the Independent candidates (all of whom are saying the same thing, more or less, but with varying degrees of CAPITAL LETTERS), I'm going to have to vote with a party.

I decided to give it a miss, as non of the candidates have disclosed their policies or skills.

The Lib Dem chap is probably going to get my vote, as yes, he's disclosed both his policies, and skills, all of which fit for what I think they should be doing.

I am spoiling my ballot. I don't have a clue who is standing, which parties they represent and what their policies are. None of them have gone out of their way to contact me, and I haven't gone out of my way to find out more. So, spoiling my ballot in lieu of a "none of the above" option.

Ignorance is no excuse when you've got the interwebs. What you're really saying is 'I don't think it's important enough to be bothered to use Google.' Try http://www.choosemypcc.org.uk for starters.

Actually, ignorance due to not caring and not wanting the current system to change would be more accurate.

Fair enough, but it's here, it's happening and it's got to be worth making your voice heard. Voter apathy is perhaps the number one cause of cretinous decisions being made.

Hence spoiling my ballot. I've exercised my franchise at least, and spoiled ballots are counted - even if they count for nothing.

I'm really disappointed by the whole affair. Party political and Police shouldn't be in bed together imho. Probly just won't vote. What a disaster, we need change not jobs for the boys.
