Why? Just how old is it? In other news, have Apple dropped Safari for Windows?

It needs to run on 10.6.8 so that cuts out a lot of machines including early Intel macs. Well as for Safari for Windows, it was not that popular on Windows and only tarnished the brand anyway.

I use it on windows and it's ok. As for damaging the brand, how can they say that and still have iTunes. If anything that damages the brand it's bloody ismegging tunes.

I did use it until for some reason it decided it didn't want to show images any more - any images, not just ones it thought were ads - so I had to switch to something else. If you're primarily a mac user, being able to sync your bookmarks and such when you're using a PC as well is a jolly useful feature. Plus it's a pretty decent webkit browser under the hood. Jon

I used it briefly. Very pretty but I hated the blurry fonts. No amount of tweaking made them properly readable to me.

That would be down to the differences between Apple and Microsoft font rendering techniques. App,e renders as the font is intended, with antialiasing to compensate for pixel boundaries. Microsoft renders fonts by bending them to fit the screen's pixel matrix. As a result, Apple font rendering appears after, but you get accurate rendering of glyphs. With Microsoft, any live you have for a particular typeface will make you want to cry.

Fonts in Apple's applications do look horrific on Windows, and worse than most programs (or at least they did a couple of years ago)

As I've been saying for years, until we all have "retina" screens then I want fonts on my screen to be designed for my screen and to be nailed to the pixels. Blurring fonts designed for the printed page is just daft when I'm never going to actually print them... it just gives me a migraine.
