The only advantage now is that we can make jokes about it.

It'll be out when it's out!

Exactly we can make fun of the name, but even that is not guaranteed. They might still call it something else. For me it is fun to poke fun at the name, but when it comes out it will be more a matter of what is in the box as it were.

The one thing it most likely won't have is a box...

I was half expecting Lion to be the last of the OSX line, being "king of the beasts" as it were.

Oddly, it was. But in a more subtle kind of way. It's the start of the "iOS-ification" of the Mac desktop models, and the death of the Mac as the key to your "digital life" and the start of it being just another connected device.

I still use my iMacs as the hub. A lot more reliable than the cloud.

Same here. The cloud is great for shifting files around, but I am well aware of the problems that could happen if the cloud somehow fails.

The one areas that the cloud is great for is syncing data between macs and iOS devices. The best implementation so far is Things which seamlessly updates changes between the OSX version and the iOS devices. So any changes made on one device show up on the others. I only wish more apps made use of that.

Clearly you have yet to be persuaded. I must admit the several hundred new features that are announced seem to be minimal though it is really just a few really good ideas with lots of other improvements. That suits me because I do not cope well with big changes. Though the little changes may not appeal to some.

I know that you are a linux user. Nothing wrong with that. I was simply commenting that OSX seems to have small incremental improvements dressed up as 200+ changes. While there may be may such changes I certainly do not notice them. The sandboxing feature I have noticed because some of my programs seem to react differently. I cannot remember the actual differences, but it seems different to me.
