For those that find that most coffee tastes burnt, try Jacobs Kronung. It's not easy to find but it's very smooth indeed.

Personally though, I'm quite happy with Tchibo from my local corner shop.

When I was a child, I loved coffee, but I went off it as I got older. I am now fuelled mostly by tea.

We now do iced-coffee - http://www.espressocrazy.com/coffee/ill ... fee_to_go/ - I thought the chilled bottled versions tasted nicer than the cans.

We get Jacobs Kronung from my other halfs ex-inlaws on birthdays. We prefer Prodomo, the Kronung usually gets taken to work for the communal coffee - better than the Aldi stuff they usually buy!

I've not been able to buy anything yet due to still-dismal funding issues. However, from The Times:

A normal amount of coffee does not dehydrate:
Quote:
Caffeine is a diuretic (it promotes the formation of urine) but only at doses of 250mg or more and taken over a short period (the equivalent of two-and-a-half cups of brewed coffee drunk in one go). If you drink normal amounts throughout the day it has no diuretic effect and counts alongside water and other soft drinks as part of your daily fluid intake.
However, while coffee may not significantly increase urine production, it can have an effect on the bladder that is easily confused with diuresis.
Caffeine and other ingredients irritate the bladder, sending signals to the brain suggesting that it is fuller than it is. So while many people notice that they pee more often after drinking coffee, it is due to irritation, not because they are producing more urine.

I can't drink more than 2 cups, but it also gets me "moving". I wonder if coffee irritates the bowels in some way? Tea doesn't have the same effect.

A cigarette can also get me moving if it doesn't happen naturally

I find a single cup can be enough to get me moving in the morning but its main effect is keeping me awake very late at night.

The cafe I go to in Aberystwyth does good coffee, at least as far as I'm concerned. It's certainly stopped me going to the likes of Costa and Starbucks, indeed it has ruined drinking coffee almost anywhere else...

Each week their machines are calibrated to ensure the grinder grinds to the right size and the water passes through the coffee in the right about of time and at the right temperature.
