Can't remember the brand off the top of my head. I'll have a look this evening.

EDIT : It's a 'Thermos Hydro Active Sports Bottle', they're 6 quid on Amazon if you search for that product.

Cheers! I'll have a look...

Looked awesome but reviews say: i. the "core" doesn't reach long enough as shown and ii. the lid leaks. Any justification for these comments? If not, I'm buying one.

The core doesn't reach all the way down but I'm not sure how much that matters. I guess it depends how quickly you drink it - if there's still water in the bottom by the time the core has melted then that water is going to have warmed up again. As long as the core is still cool, if you slosh the water about a bit before you drink it it'll still have the same effect.
I haven't had any leaks with mine, but I can see how you might. It has a screw top then a little 'flip top' catch that you drink out of. That flip top locks in kind of two stages - you flip it over to close it then you have to press it down until it clicks. I'd imagine if you forgot to do that second bit it could come open in a bag or something.

Basically, I can see how people would get those things but I haven't had them. I do stuff in the gym or walking though, so I can't comment whether it's a good water bottle for runners.

TBH, I've never seen a product on Amazon that somebody hasn't posted complaints about. Unless they're all negative... well it's only a fiver after all.

Hmm. Two sepcific things stand out:

Firstly, the problem is very much greater with hot liquids:

Quote:
When the polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins made from the chemical are exposed to hot liquids, BPA leaches out 55 times faster than it does under normal conditions

Secondly, the stuff is used all over the place.

Quote:
The chemical is commonly found in drinking bottles, baby bottles and sipper cups as well as dentistry composites and sealants and in the lining of aluminum food and beverage cans.

Conclusions from this:

If you reuse a bottle with tap water, then it will contain far less BPA than the original water.
Don't wash the bottles with hot water.
If you don't drink the water, throw it away and refill at the earliest convenience.
Preferably use a glass bottle instead, since BPA is likely to be in any plastic or metal drinking containers you find.

Thankfully I no longer leave the house, so such problems matter not to me.
