Wait, are you buying vinyl?

I looked up an old record I used to love as a kid. It wasn't by a huge band, it didn't make it big in the charts, but it was pretty well known. I thought it might be fun to add it to my collection. The band's first album is currently on Amazon for around £800.

What's the band / album?

Quantum Jump is the band, and name of their first album.

I just checked, and the cheapest used CD is £116. That's the cheapest on offer. The highest of the four is £797. :?

I wonder if anyone will ever buy it at that price?

(I've searched the iTunes store, and they don't appear on there that I can see.)

I sort of knew their track The Lone Ranger but didn't know the band. I remember the intro being popular and people trying to learn it as it was all one very long word.

I vaguely remember it. I used to be a big Kenny Everett fan so maybe I heard it on his shows.
I was 9 when it was re-released so any sexual references would have gone over my head. Although hearing it again, they still do

Did you do a lyric search for that? ;)

I'd be lying if I said I remembered it

It's a really catchy song, and funny in places. I've read the lyrics so now I see the gay sex and drugs references - I'd never have figured them out by listening! It's very tame stuff by today's standards lol.

Fill up pipe of peace for Tonto
Kimosabi friend and brother
He smoke pipe of peace with Tonto
Put his mask on back to fronto
Tonto fall about with laughter
He a head our great white brother
Even pass a tote to Silver
Mask man very untogether
...
Tonto know that Kimosabi
Never ever have a woman
Tonto sometime stop and wonder
What the trip with the great white brother
Maybe masked man he a poofter
Try it on with surly Tonto
Let me say to mister lawman
Tonto doesn't mind

Well I chuckled. I'd probably fall about with laughter watching a horse smoke a pipe. If I'd been smoking said pipe, that is. Also, back to fronto rhyme with Tonto.

Interestingly getting banned by the BBC was a badge of honour for some artists. It made them appear edgier. It also acted as a serious incentive by buyers to buy the record to get it to number one to embarrass the BBC. It was also amusing to see the number one not being played on the 'Top Of The Pops'.

Tax disc bought for another 6 months, customs charge paid for (£5.22 in customs, £8 to the Royal Mail for 'handling').
But I have bought some Innis & Gunn Spiced Rum finish beer.
Yes, you can tell it's pay day.
