Scarlett Johanson's chair flip stunt in Avengers was done by a stunt man.

I know, but It's only a matter of time before some high profile fashionista starts shoe-horning it into our language though. ;)

That OAP's seem to think the only snow you need to clear off your car is the from the front and back windscreens. Don't bother with the indicators or brake lights, people don't need to see those. :???:

I've seen some people only clear snow off the front windscreen but only as far down as eye level.

A few years ago someone drove into the back of my car as they had only scraped out a letterbox shape from the ice for their eyes to see out. All other windows were iced over.

The next series of Glee will be shot on 35mm film.

To check if the heated element in your windscreen is actually working, hold a magnetic compass against it as you switch it on. There should be a deflection to the west if it is working.

Glee are a bunch of rip-off merchants! They should be sued by the RIAA, but as they are part of the "institution", it seems to be alright that they steal other people's music.

They ripped of Jonathan Coulton's version of "Baby got back", including all of his changed lyrics, music arrangement and special soundeffects...

They do get permission for the tunes they use. Dave Grohl famously told them 'do one' (I'm paraphrasing) when they asked to use a Foo Fighters track.

They do normally, but this one has been doing the rounds recently as they're using the same arrangement as another cover, with the same modifications. Wired have a few words about it.

Ahh, interesting. I wasn't aware of that one.
I'd expect a large cheque is being written to Mr Coulton.

Just for fun, here's Grohls response to their request:
Quote:
"Don’t count on hearing the Foo Fighters hit “Times Like These” on Glee anytime soon. Frontman Dave Grohl says he and his bandmates are squarely in the corner of Kings of Leon and Slash. As in, they want no part of the Ryan Murphy-helmed show.

“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f---ing Glee,” Grohl told THR following the premiere of Foo Fighters: Back and Forth, the new Foo Fighters documentary which just made its South By Southwest debut. “And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f---ing show… f--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.” You might be wondering, has Grohl ever actually watched the show? As it turns out, yes, he gave Glee a whirl. “I watched 10 minutes. It’s not my thing,” Grohl grizzled. But he doesn’t have as much of a problem with the series as he does with its creator. Recounting anti-Glee comments made by Slash earlier this year and subsequent retorts by Murphy, reported by THR, Grohl explained to drummer Taylor Hawkins: “The Glee guy, what a f---ing jerk. Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns ‘n’ Roses and Slash is like, ‘I hate f---ing musicals. It’s worse than Grease.’ Then [Murphy's] like, ‘Well, of course he’d say that, he’s a washed up ol’ rock star, that’s what they f---ing do.’ And then Kings of Leon say, ‘No, we don’t want to be on your show.’ And then he’s like, ‘Snotty little assholes…’ And it’s just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.” Said Hawkins: “Yeah, f--- that [LIFTED].”

Coulton would probably have been fine if they had asked, but they just recorded it and published it, without informing him.

Allegedly, they do that a lot, they publish and then send out a cheque, if the artist complains enough...

Amazon has only made some $5 billion since its inception over ten years. Apple makes that on average every month.

Amazon are running a hysterically low margin business at the moment. I worry a little what will happen when the only places left to buy stuff are Amazon and Tesco. i can't imagine either of them being very socialist about it, somehow.

(said the man waiting for two Amazon parcels this morning...)
