Some of the CVGers are suggesting 1.6 is a bit low... :? :|

The Blu ray drive is a good idea, but the amount of memory might be low for future development. If it can be used as a DVR then a decent hard drive should also be added, for games saves as well as a DVR. 8 cores are not a problem if you can get them to work together. So it does not have to be overly fast. By controlling what crap is also running you can use all 8 cores together in a game.

And following the Xbox story, the PS4 according to Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/5977849/the-playstati ... Socialflow

I like the sound of four USB ports.

The controller still sounds gimmicky but seems to keep a sensible shape.

Share? Piss off.

This. The first revision PS3 had four and that was useful. Then they dropped two of them :(.

Charging cable and headphones receiver on a Slim here, and it's behind the TV... Never did get round to buying a charged hub and don't even know if that would work.

I would love 4 usb cables. Currently only have two - one is taken by the bluetooth dongle for the stereo headset and the other is taken by a charge cable (via a 2m extension) so I can wear my headset or use my controller and charge it whilst in play. The downside is when both things need charging - would be great if I could charge both without any more gadgets/gizmos.

Controller - really needs to be altered IMO. WTF am I going to do with either a screen/touchscreen/touchpad when playing COD?

How long will they keep 4 USB ports in the new PS4?

Yes but if they had 4 ports to start with in the PS3. Would it be wrong to assume that they might do the same again, and remove ports shortly after launch?

Sony enjoy nothing more than removing functionality

Sony just posted this video on the PlayStation blog. Looks like a teaser for the next PlayStation (code-named Orbis), don't you think? It ends with a date: February 20, 2013. Will Sony announce their next console then?

We've heard bits and pieces about the next PlayStation for quite some time now, and rumors have been swirling that both Sony and Microsoft's next-generation consoles will be announced this year, likely before E3. Although Sony has kept quiet about plans for their successor to the PlayStation 3, released in 2006, the Japanese game-maker is expected to release a new console either later this year or in early 2014.

This event will take place in New York City on February 20 at 6pm Eastern. That's only five days before the company's annual Destination PlayStation event kicks off in Arizona, where retailers are shown the biggest and best games on Sony's plate for the year ahead.

Sony's president Shuhei Yoshida also seems pretty excited:

!?
— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) January 31, 2013

We've reached out to Sony to ask what's up.

The video only 'reveals' the joypad symbols and the above date ;)

I am deeply curious to see whether this will put Sony in a better position gaming-wise or just unleash the FAIL armada straight at the rocks. Assuming they haven't had to sell it too

The share feature looks like it could be popular. It would clearly boost PS4 results on Youtube very rapidly. If people can see actual gameplay it might actually help sales.

1. I need tactile feedback. I do not want to have to look down at the gamepad in order to work out what to press.
2. Touchscreens are a waste of time if they involve looking down - I do not want to get killed because I had to take my eyes off the screen.
3. Stick as many cameras and microphones as you want - I will be duct taping them shut because you just know someone will develop a hack to access it.
