I wonder if those who held him down will be charged with manslaughter?

Even with CCTV the appeals would be hanging out of it. If I was a judge I'd excuse myself

The only question is was reasonable force applied? It appears not. There might be mitigating circumstances considering the age of the robber, and possible ill-health.

IMO, the probability is much more than him wearing a gas mask was the major cause of his demise. I suspect that still having it on (there's no mention of it being removed in the reports I saw) while he was being restrained could have led to oxygen deprivation and therefore maybe cardiac arrest or simple suffocation.
Armed robbery is a serious offence but it shouldn't be a capital offense. However if I was the CPS I'd be loath to prosecute any of the punters involved. It would be quite hard to prove from the reports I read that any one person's actions specifically lead to his death.

Doubt it. A heart attack can happen for any reason, the stress of robbing somewhere for example. Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2

I am sure that the CPS will be investigating it but it could be months before they are free of prosecution.
