When this came out in 1984 the synth band I was in at the time was going to cover it partly because it was a cracking song and partly because we knew how much Morrissey hated electronics and we didn't like The Smiths much, so it would be a great wind-up.

Re Smiths. I get that a lot of it was humorous, but the excellent guitar work was ruined by Morrissey! And he's still a twat.
