Sleet here at the moment, but we are supposed to be getting up to 12°C this week...

Snow had gone by yesterday. This morning, got up at 7am to wash the car. Very windy and a few drops of rain but now the sun's been out for about half an hour.

Snow all gone :( A day of thaw and spitting rain yesterday has made it all vanish, now we've got a bit of flooding in the paddock but otherwise all is as normal again. We do have a very strong wind which is blowing hard enough at the front door to cause it to make noises like an owl  Hope that doesn't last!

Agreed, it's a bit crazy. Exactly 24 hours ago - a good thick layer of snow everywhere. Now? A few forlorn patches of ice are all that's left. Bah, it's taken some of the fun out of the world.

The snow only lasted a couple of days here. It has been raining today.

Rained yesterday afternoon, froze over night, so now icy roads... I nearly fell over 3 times walking the dog.

I thought that they use those snow spikes on shoes there?

In the circumstances described you're not going to know you need them until you leave the house though.

Weather-guessers said it was supposed to be 5-6 degrees where I was last night. So how come I had to defrost my car this morning eh?

I fully appreciate that but they can be small and kept in your pockets until needed. It is a lot safer than a single fall. You only have to be unlucky once for it to be useful.

bah. Got up this morning to what looked like a layer of snow. In fact it turned out to be a thick layer of hailstones but the effect is much the same. Despite the weather guessers warning of this for days, the roads had not been gritted at all. Maybe they used up all the grit last time. Anyway. Walking pace (literally) on the M60. 3MPH for a very large stretch of the journey. In a rear wheel drive sports car. The last time I concentrated this much, I was in a quantum mechanics exam. A journey which on a good day takes 40 minutes took two and a half hours.

Now in work having missed two meetings, one of which it's going to look like I deliberately got in late to miss.

I need a bacon sandwich and I need one now.
