My mother had a fall yesterday whilst crossing a (thankfully clear) road. She landed on her right knee and hand, which swung her round on to her left so she smacked her head against the road. Got up a bit dazed and was planning on going home. Just at that moment, my sister rang her to advise her to avoid a particular bus route and found out what happened. They rang me and I advised attendance to A&E based on the fact that she was unsure how she fell (denied tripping) and had blurred vision in one eye. Thankfully, her tests and x-rays were normal and she was allowed to go home.

Although I'm glad she's safe and sound, it's still a PITA because last night was supposed to be a time to catch up with friends for the first time since I started working. Sod's law and all that.

Hope she's not too shaken up man.

Are you both sure it was not some secret special day like oldies fall over day? ;)

Joking aside I hope that both of them are all okay and that they are making a full recovery.

Mother's doing well. Surprisingly, she was fine when it was snowing.

ION I had a messed up dream last night:

I was driving along a road in my car. The road felt more like an american freeway - 6-8 lanes with no barriers between them and mixed directional traffic. The road undulated markedly along it's course. I was speeding. Instead of the normal feeling of weightlessness you get when a car goes over a hump quickly, my car left the road. The first jump was maybe two storeys. The second jump was at least five or six storeys. It felt a bit like a fairground ride (not a rollercoaster since the motion was still felt the same as going over a hump too fast).

Anyway, the second time the car landed, it caused a crash with an oncoming vehicle. The guy in the other vehicle was ejected through the windscreen but was otherwise fine. Somehow a young black girl had been killed as a result of an accident. We both thought we had killed someone. We were planning to report it to the police but it turns out (details in mind are fading quickly) that her death had been orchestrated and the crash was deliberate to conceal her death.

Some chubby, bearded guy had been using her as a prostitute and now wanted to dispose of her. He threatened to report us to the police for murder unless we kept quiet about everything. Somehow, I had taken the blame and my family had turned their back on me. I was kicked out of my house and had to live on my own, no job, no home. I think I went abroad.

Cut to a year later and I came back, believing everything had been forgotten. Upon my arrival at home, there was a package waiting for me. It contained a small electronic device (looked like a date/time/calendar type thing) but was an indication that my whereabouts had been tracked and that the person who was blackmailing me had known I was going to pitch up home. I then had to leave, with the help of my secondary school friends, and find a new place to live. During this process, we started to uncover more evidence and a way to clear my name.

Unforunately, the alarm went off so I never knew what happened in the end.

I blame this on the super-cheesy pasta bake I had last night.

Yeah she's fine. It was on the grass in the garden (luckily).

You can't do that to us! I want to know what happens now! :o

Seriously, I could see that being pitched to some bozos in a Hollywood studio. Maybe not the super bouncy freeway bit, but the rest - wow!

I want to know the ending too! It really was a vivid dream and I too felt it could have been a decent B-grade movie.

The last three films I have watched were: Jack Reacher, BTTF 2, and The Matrix. The last two were on TV.

From the BBC:

Why do some countries regulate baby names?

Quote:
A 15-year-old Icelandic girl has won the right to keep her first name, despite it being "unapproved" by the state. Why do some countries restrict baby names? Parents-to-be often find it hard enough to find a name they both like, let alone one the state might also be in favour of.

Iceland
Yes: Elvis
No: Carolina

New Zealand
Yes: Number 16 Bus Shelter
No: Yeah Detroit

Germany
Yes: Legolas
No: Matti

Sweden
Yes: Metallica 8-)
No: Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116

Japan

Portugal

Denmark, France, Spain and Argentina also strict

In the USA almost anything goes, e.g.: Female; Enamel; Lettuce; Mustard M Mustard; Vagina, Mutton and Post Office to name a few! :D

Just watching a US based news report on a website, and at the start of it was an advert for the Black Bear Diner... and they do a breakfast burger.
A breakfast burger. MMMmmmm.
