I'm not so sure about that. The yanks have had very small drones for a few years. Some of them the size and appearance of a mosquito, going by several accounts I've seen. "hiding in plain sight" is the idea. There was also a rather cute RC humming bird. There's loads on Youtube and whatnot if you want to search.

Frontline or even 'helicopter' might be the key word, but yeah, I'd have figured it was basically done long ago.
